The upcoming clashes between Paris Basketball and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague, scheduled for Thursday, have been classified as high risk by the National Division for the Fight against Hooliganism (DNLH), according to a source close to the matter.
The match, which is part of the 22nd day of this prestigious European Cup, has been assigned a risk level of 4 on a scale of 1 to 5.
Given the current situation in the Middle East, notably the war between Israel and the militant group Hamas in Gaza, triggered by the massacre perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, the meeting is under close surveillance.
In a statement made on Tuesday, the Paris police headquarters indicated that the match “risks constituting a privileged and symbolic target for acts of a terrorist nature”, in a “current context of very high threat levels”.

On December 18, a Champions League match in Nanterre against Hapoel Holon was briefly interrupted when a spectator invaded the pitch waving a Palestinian flag. This intrusion caused scuffles among the public, leading to the arrest of seven people, including the spectator in question.
Earlier in November, special security was put in place during the Nations League match between France and Israel at the Stade de France, with 4,000 police and gendarmes deployed around the venue, in Saint-Denis, and in public transport in Paris.
