Vendée Globe 2024: Charlie Dalin, a foolproof navigator

By winning the Vendée Globe, Charlie Dalin took his revenge. The navigator finished second in the previous edition.

After 64 days alone on board, Charlie Dalin concluded his solo world tour and won the 2024 Vendée Globe on Tuesday January 14. At the same time, he became the fastest sailor in the history of the legendary solo race around the world under sail. After leaving on November 10, Le Havrais (Seine-Maritime) knew how to tame the seas and avoid pitfalls. He was in the lead 80% of the time.

Charlie Dalin is methodical, discreet and hardworking. He was imperturbable, even when he had to climb to the top of his mast. For two months, the general public was able to discover it, sometimes with humor, like during Christmas. To win the Vendée Globe, he had to battle with his friend and competitor Yoann Richomme. Faster in the final straight, Charlie Dalin, ranked second four years ago, finally gets his revenge.
