This Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by telephone with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, about strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
“The conversation was quite long and detailed. We discussed defense support, different forms of defense, arms packages for Ukraine”informed Volodymyr Zelensky in his daily address broadcast on social networks.
He specified that the discussion also focused on investments in the purchase of shells for Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian soldiers in France.
The two presidents discussed, among other things, a possible deployment of European troops in Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky estimated last week that such a contingent would be “one of the best instruments” pour “force Russia into peace”. The idea of deploying European troops in Ukraine has been raised several times in recent months amid speculation about possible future peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
