The head of Ecologists Marine Tondelier explained to AFP on Tuesday “not understanding the euphoria of the socialists”a few hours before the Prime Minister’s general policy declaration, judging that “the current state of discussions (gave) no reason to consider anything other than censorship”. Olivier Faure « says he doesn’t want to sell the bear’s skin until he kills it, but I have a feeling that’s what he’s doing.”she regretted.
On “the proposal” compromise put on the table by the Socialist Party, the content of which has not yet been revealed, Marine Tondelier believes that it is not “not very clear”and affirms that she will be “very attentive to what the social partners will say, and in particular the CGT”.
With regard in particular to the environmental issue, for which the Ecologists are demanding 7 billion euros, Marine Tondelier judges that “it’s a joke”. “We talk to them in billions, they answer us in millions”. “If the environment is not the priority, neither of the government, nor of our partners, we will take note”she adds.
The national secretary of Ecologists continues to think “that it was necessary to negotiate” with the government and that, faced with the situation “of the most vulnerable”, “whatever we can take, we must take, but from there to rejoicing, we are not there”.
According to her, there should be in François Bayrou’s speech some “advanced”on the elimination of co-payments, waiting days for civil servants, the increase in the national health insurance expenditure objective), or even the end of job cuts in National Education. “If it comes to fruition, it won’t be nothing, we will have played our role”she says.
But she also judges that on the social side, “the account is not there”. The proposal to tax the wealth of the wealthiest would, for example, bring in, according to her, some 2 billion euros, “far from the level of the ISF if it had not been abolished”.
