Carrie Underwood, who launched her career on the show American Idolwill occur shortly before Mr. Trump is sworn in at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20, according to a copy of the inauguration program provided to The Associated Press on Monday.

American disco group Village People became known in the late 1970s for their sung dance-pop hits and colorful onstage characters. Their most famous hit, Y.M.C.A.is widely considered a gay anthem – and became a staple of Trump rallies during the last election, as did their hit male man.
The American disco group is scheduled to perform at one of Mr. Trump’s inauguration balls and at a rally he is organizing in Washington the day before he is sworn in. “We know this won’t please some of you, but we believe music should be played regardless of politics,” the band said in a message posted Monday on its Facebook page.
“That’s why we believe it’s time to bring the country together through music and that’s why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events in conjunction with Donald J. Trump’s inauguration in 2025,” adds- your. Other performers at the inauguration ceremony included two of the president-elect’s favorites, country singer Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio.
Several festivities on the menu
The pageantry and spectacle that accompany the inauguration of a new president begins this weekend in Washington with fireworks at Trump’s Golf club in Sterling, Va., a campaign rally in Washington, a visit at Arlington National Cemetery and lavish dinners before the former president takes the oath of office to become the next president.
Mr. Trump’s second inauguration is expected to be very different from the last time America had a new president. Mr Trump, who refused to accept his defeat in 2020, did not attend Democratic President Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol, where mementos of the violent siege on January 6 could still be seen 2021 led by Mr. Trump supporters against the building.
The committee charged with organizing Mr. Trump’s inauguration ceremonies on Monday released a four-day schedule of events focused on the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony, which Mr. Biden plans to attend.

Mr. Witkoff is Mr. Trump’s future envoy to the Middle East, and Mr. Loeffler is a former senator from Georgia who was chosen by Mr. Trump to lead the Small Business Administration.
“The 2025 inauguration celebrations will reflect President-elect Trump’s historic return to the White House and the decisive vote of the American people to make America great again,” Mr. Witkoff and Mr. Loeffler said.
On Saturday, Mr. Trump is expected to attend a reception and fireworks display at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. Additionally, Vice President-elect JD Vance will attend a reception for new cabinet members and host a dinner.
On Sunday, the president-elect will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and then hold a “MAGA Victory” rally at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington. The Village People are expected to perform at this gathering.
On Inauguration Day, the Republican plans a tea at the White House, a swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol, a congressional luncheon, a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and a trio of balls.
The inauguration balls include a Commander in Chief Ball for members of the armed forces, an Inaugural Freedom Ball for Mr. Trump supporters, which will include a performance by the Village People, and the Starlight Ball, for donors the most more fortunate. Mr. Trump is scheduled to speak at all three balls.
Future first lady Melania Trump will have tea with the Bidens. In 2021, the Trumps did not invite the Bidens for tea before the latter’s inauguration, preferring to leave town before the new president was sworn in. In November, when Joe Biden invited President-elect Trump to the White House, Melania Trump opted out of the visit.
Tuesday, Mr. Trump’s first full day as the 47th president, will include a national prayer service in the morning.
According to Mr. Trump’s inauguration committee, Mr. Greenwood will perform the national anthem when Mr. Trump exits the room to take the oath of office. Mr. Macchio was chosen by Mr. Trump to perform the national anthem at the end of the program.
Mr. Macchio performed at the Republican National Convention in July, at Mr. Trump’s comeback rally in Butler, Pa., in October, after his first rally was marred by an assassination attempt, and during his rally at Madison Square Garden, which drew backlash due to crude and racist jokes from some speakers.
The invocation is expected to be delivered by Franklin Graham, son of the late Pastor Billy Graham, and New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
At Mr. Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, the Rockettes, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and singer Jackie Evancho, 16, from the show America’s Got Talenthad occurred.
