She was scammed out of over a million dollars while thinking she was talking to Brad Pitt

Anne, a 53-year-old interior designer, was the victim of a romantic scam of an impressive scale. During an interview on the show Sept à Huit on TF1, she revealed how an individual claiming to be Brad Pitt took the colossal sum of 830,000 euros from her.

It all begins in February 2023, when Anne is enjoying a ski vacation in Tignes. After creating an Instagram account, she received a message from a profile introducing herself as “Jane Etta Pitt”, supposedly the actor’s mother. The next day, another account, supposedly that of Brad Pitt, contacted her, writing: “My mother has told me a lot about you.”

“I was stunned. At first I thought it was a joke, but I couldn’t understand what was happening,” says Anne. A regular correspondence quickly established itself. “He knew how to address women, his messages were always well written. I fell in love with the person I was chatting with.”

The fake Brad Pitt sends her poems, declarations of love and even a video generated by artificial intelligence to convince her of his identity. A few days later, he asked her to marry him. It was then that the financial scam began: he demanded an initial amount of 9,000 euros, claiming that this money would be used to pay customs fees for luxurious gifts he wanted to give her.

Anne, convinced of the sincerity of her interlocutor, decides to go so far as to divorce her husband and collects a compensatory payment of 775,000 euros. The scammer asks him for this amount under the pretext of suffering from kidney cancer and having his bank accounts blocked due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. “It was a difficult choice, but I thought I was saving a man’s life,” says Anne.

It was not until the summer of 2024 that she discovered the scam when she saw photos of Brad Pitt with another woman in the media. Understanding the deception, Anne decides to file a complaint, but the damage has already been done. Today she suffers from severe depression and is hospitalized.

“These people deserve to be held accountable. We absolutely have to find them,” says Anne, still upset. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for this fraud.
