For several weeks, Coca-Cola products have been gradually disappearing from the shelves of Migros: this concerns the different variants of the drink as well as the bottles of Fanta and Monster. If six-packs can still be found in certain branches, this is far from being the case everywhere. In many stores, the shelves display this message: “Unfortunately, this item is currently unavailable. We are in negotiations with the supplier.”
When questioned, Migros confirmed, without giving further details. “We cannot provide further information for legal reasons,” explains a company communicator. Another spokesperson, Tristan Cerf, adds: “This situation in no way means that there will be no more Coke on the shelves, but we cannot rule out possible delivery delays. This at the national level.” For its part, Coca-Cola does not provide any further information.
This is not the first time that tensions have arisen between Swiss retailers and the American giant, particularly around the question of price. Last year, Coca-Cola raised its prices again, which reignited debate. Coop had already circumvented increases by importing Coca-Cola from Poland in 2021. And Mario Irminger, current boss of Migros, had taken a similar measure at Denner by importing bottles from the Czech Republic.
Migros customers looking for Coca-Cola can, however, turn to its subsidiary Denner, “where the brand’s products remain available” assures Thomas Kaderli, its spokesperson.
