Near Meaux, major work on the gas network is underway

As part of the upgrading of gas installations, GRDF has launched a major network modernization project in the town of Nanteuil-lès-Meaux. This work meets the obligation to the exclusive use of polyethylene and steel for the operation of gas distribution networks in France by 2050.

Copper pipes before January 1, 2050, and ductile iron pipes must be renewed.

The City assures us that this work must be done as quickly as possible.

Today, some ductile iron gas lines, now banned, require updating to ensure network safety and compliance. These old conduits will gradually be replaced by polyethylene conduits, a safer and more durable material. The work will take place over an area of ​​740 linear meters, including Place de l’Église, Rue de la Lampe and Chemin du Vieux Noix.

This project, started at the very beginning of January, is being held until March 15, 2025. To limit the impact on traffic and the daily lives of residents, the work will be carried out in stageswith several intervention phases planned.

“The gas cut will last one day each time,” confirms GRDF.

Work in 8 phases

The first phase of work already began on January 6. Until February 8, the 12 place de l’Église and 8 rue Jules-Blot are affected with a gas cut on January 21. Secondly, the other part of the rue Jules-Blot (14 to 20) will also be completed but with a break on January 22.

The third phase will involve the Church Square. Indeed, from 3 to 19 place de l’Église, work will be carried out from January 20 to February 15, with a break on January 30.

Also this month, 21 to 33 place de l’Église, interventions will also be made, but with a break on January 31.

The end of the month will mark the start of the fifth phase, rue de la Lampe. Indeed, from 2 to 18 rue, GRDF agents will be present from January 27 to February 28. Note a gas cut on February 7.

The sixth phase will concern the other half of the rue de la Lampe and from 3 to 11 chemin du Vieux-Noix. The intervention will last from February 10 to March 7, with a break on February 20.

The penultimate intervention will be carried out from 10 to 20 chemin du Vieux-Noixbetween February 17 and March 15. However, a cut is expected on February 26.

Finally, the eighth and final phase will take place from 3 to 9 chemin du Vieux Nutbetween February 17 and March 15. With a cut on February 27.
