The Resto U Armen, located on avenue Le Gorgeu, near the UBO, in Brest, had to close its doors. Around 10 a.m., this Monday, January 13, 2025, a gas explosion occurred near the fryers: “Just when the Crous agents wanted to light them. » The Crous technical service immediately went to the site while the Clous management notified emergency services. The firefighters and GRDF agents intervened very quickly.
Two people hospitalized in relative emergency
The building was quickly evacuated. There were no students in the establishment. But two agents from the U restaurant were transferred to the hospital in relative emergency. They would suffer from “eardrum problems” due to the noise of the explosion. Fortunately, “no one is burned or poisoned”specifies Christelle Nihouarn from the communications department of the Regional Center for University and Social Work, Crous.
An “inconvenience for students”
Which explains why the catering service could not be provided at Resto U Armen this Monday lunchtime. The date of its reopening is not yet known. The three other Crous restaurant areas remain open.
Crous Bretagne, whose mission is to improve the daily living conditions of students, explains “be well aware of the inconvenience this causes for students. » And he announces “do everything possible to return to a normalized situation as soon as possible. »
Two more closures in 2024
In September 2024, Resto U Armen had already been closed due to a water cut, due to vibrations caused by the tram construction site. And, in April 2024, after the rupture of a water pipe, which flooded the kitchens and technical spaces, the Resto U de Kergoat, located near the law faculty, also closed its doors for several months .
