A seven-month-old infant died Sunday morning in a fire in an apartment in Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime), announced the Rouen Prosecutor’s Office.
“Three other children, the oldest twelve years old, as well as the mother were taken to Rouen hospital, where they are in care,” said the public prosecutor of Rouen, Sébastien Gallois, in a press release sent Sunday afternoon, specifying that the deceased baby was only seven months old and not nine as previously indicated by another source.
“An investigation into the causes of death was opened by the Public Prosecutor’s Office this morning. It is entrusted to DIPN 76 (editor’s note: Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police of Seine-Maritime),” added the magistrate, specifying that technical and scientific police operations were underway “to determine the origin of the fire “.
