The funeral of Jean-Marie Le Pen took place this Friday afternoon In the church of La Trinité-sur-Merhis hometown, in the presence of his family and a few close friends. A moment full of emotion, marked by an incident in the middle of the religious ceremony.
This solemn event brought together prominent figures from the family circle. The ceremony was briefly disturbed by an unexpected act.
A sober and family ceremony for Jean-Marie Le Pen
The funeral service began at 14h30 in the small Saint-Joseph church. Nearly 200 people took their place in this modest building, to pay a final tribute to the former political leader passed away on January 7, 2025 at the age of 96.
The ceremony, celebrated by Father Dominique Le Quernec, rector of the parish of Carnac, took place in an atmosphere collected and family. Marie-Caroline and Marine Le Pen, the two daughters of Jean-Marie Le Pen, arrived on foot from the family residence.

Around 4:20 p.m., as the ceremony drew to a close, two antifa activists attempted to disrupt the burial of Jean-Marie Le Pen. Equipped with a speaker, they wanted broadcast sound near the cemetery. Quickly spottedthey were removed by the police present on site.
The activists had probably planned their action to draw attention to the ceremony. However, their attempt failed without apparent friction. The reaction of the police made it possible to quickly restore calm.
This incident caused a brief interruptionbut the ceremony was able to resume its course. Relatives of the deceased continued the tribute until the end of the burial in family privacy.
After mass, the funeral processioncarrying the coffin of Jean-Marie Le Pen, headed towards the Trinité-sur-Mer cemetery. Throughout the journey, applause rang out among the crowd presentpaying tribute to the former political leader.
A strictly supervised tribute to Jean-Marie Le Pen
The press had no not been authorized to cover the event from inside the church. However, according to witnesses, a journalist from Le Monde, Ivanne Trippenbach, entered the building despite the formal ban.
His intrusion aroused reactionswith some believing that she lacked respect for the bereaved family. This attempt to access unauthorized added additional tension to this day already marked by the emotion.
