“It’s no longer the same high school as the day before yesterday.” Sébastien Tricotet, director of the Simone-Dounon high school and coordinator of the Cosnois Catholic school, recognizes it: the establishment is in shock. As soon as the death of a young student was announced, hit by a utility vehicle this Thursday, January 9 while he was going to his high school by bike, a system “in the image of the establishment” was established to manage emotion within high school.
A raw wound, which will be very difficult to heal. Especially since “he was a very popular boy in the establishment”, and more broadly within the school system, where he did several weeks of internships. “Of the 200 students at the high school, everyone was able to express themselves,” specifies the director.
Some young people preferred to turn to close teachers, in particular their physical education teacher, with whom Ulrick shared common memories around football. “Students hit the ball with the teacher while remembering moments spent with him.”
“We lost a member of our family”
To accommodate “tears and psychological problems”, the establishment plans to maintain the crisis unit until the young boy’s funeral. “The students wanted to stay among themselves, to become one, to get closer to the teachers they wanted,” adds Sébastien Tricotet.
A tribute will be paid within the school in agreement with Ulrick’s family. “Dounon is a family. We lost a member of our family. It is important for us, as an establishment, not to leave young people alone in the face of this tragedy. We are doing everything we can to help them. to accompany.”
