Loïc Meillard signed on 2e time of the first round in the night slalom of Madonna di Campiglio. The best time was the work of Alte Lie McGrath.

Still looking for a victory this season in the World Cup, Loïc Meillard conceded 0”62 to the Norwegian. This made the difference in the dizzying wall of the Canalone Miramonti slope, taking 0”34 back from the Hérémence skier in this crucial sector.

Third in this first round, the Croatian Samuel Kolega dropped 0”65 on McGrath. Only five riders lost less than a second, the leader of the discipline classification Henrik Kristoffersen is for his part 9e at 1”09.

Swiss hopes

Swiss hopes will rest, barring any surprises, solely on the shoulders of Loïc Meillard in the second round (from 8:45 p.m.). Three times winner at Madonna, Daniel Yule conceded 1”64 to reach 18e rank after the passage of 32 competitors. Tanguy Nef follows closely (19e at 1”67).

Eliminated in the first round during the first four slaloms of the winter, Marc Rochat reached the finish this time. But his lack of confidence was felt, and the Vaudois conceded 3”01 to find himself 25e. Ramon Zenhäuser (22e at 2”50) did barely better, while Luca Aerni was eliminated.

Distinguished eliminations

This first round was also fatal to the winner of the first two slaloms of the winter, Clément Noël. The Frenchman has lost his splendor since his heavy fall in giant in Val-d’Isère, he who finished 6e in Atla Badia. Timon Haugan, who won in the Dolomites resort, also made a mistake.
