Football: Didier Deschamps will leave the French national team after the 2026 World Cup | The Press of Tunisia

The head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, announced on Wednesday that he will step down from his position following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico and in Canada.

“I have been here since 2012. My mandate extends until 2026, the next World Cup, but that will be it because at some point it has to stop. In my mind, it’s pretty clear,” he told the media.

Deschamps has been at the head of the French team since July 2012, and the 56-year-old world champion (2018) has confirmed his intention not to request a new extension at the helm of Les Bleus.

“I also did my time, with the same desire, the same passion to keep the French team at the highest level, but 2026 is just perfect,” he added.
