Before the start of the season, Reed Sheppard was seen as one of the favorites for the title of Rookie of the Year, if not outright the favorite. Except that as we approach mid-season, he still hasn’t sparked.
Increasingly stuck on the bench, the former Kentucky player has just been sent to the G-League to keep up the pace. And for his first match with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, he did quite a job, with 49 points on 17/33 shooting including 8/19 at 3-points, but also 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 interceptions!
With the hot hand, he allowed his team to hang on in the match, but it was ultimately the Oklahoma City Blue, led by Ousmane Dieng (31 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) who won (130-125).
The mustachioed Reed Sheppard, who only passed the 10-point mark once in the NBA this season, nevertheless got his message across: if he has “ticket shots”, he is ready to draw.
