We enter the rather “boring” period of award ceremonies, nominations, whether for music, films or series. The entire entertainment industry is preparing to put on its most beautiful and expensive outfit to show off on the red carpets of the most prestigious ceremonies. Robbie Williams, who just released a film inspired by his life, “Better Man”, in which he is played by a monkey, is obviously there, he who was nominated in several ceremonies for his title “Forbidden Road”. While the song has just been disqualified for the Oscars, the singer reacted to this announcement with a lot of humor.

The very short interview with Robbie Williams took place on the red carpet of another ceremony, that of Golden Globes 2025, where the singer was nominated in the “Best Original Song” category (as part of a film), even if he did not win the trophy. It was at this moment that he learned that his title was no longer in the running for the Oscars, since “Forbidden Road” contains “material from an existing song that was not written for the film”.
Unfortunately, this is a violation of the eligibility rules of this category: the song must only contain original melodies and lyrics created specifically for the film (here, “Better Man”). The media deadline therefore went to meet Robbie Williams to get his reaction on the subject, and as often, the singer was rather cool:
Listen, rules are rules and you have to follow them. That would have been nice, but as an introvert, that’s another party I don’t need to go to. I’ve been there, I’m on the other side. Everything is fine.
However, we would have loved to have a decorated Robbie Williams during the Oscars ceremony, because with his humor, he would certainly have added a little warmth to a ceremony that was sorely lacking…
