The evening following the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen was marked by scenes of jubilation in several cities such as Lyon, Paris and Rennes. Scenes quickly condemned by the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau, from the very conservative right.
“Nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies dancing on a corpse. The death of a man, even a political opponent, should only inspire restraint and dignity. These scenes of jubilation are simply shameful” , he reacted on X.
An indignation shared by the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu on Europe 1. “The political fight is for the living, so we must continue with the living but respect the dead, it is a question of dignity”, he said. he reacted this Wednesday morning.
The leader of LFI deputies Mathilde Panot indicated on RTL that the festive gatherings do not “shock” her. “Those who are shocked (…) by a youth who continues to annoy the FN, are Charlie in the morning, (…) and in the evening are shocked that people can make a joke or hold symbolic rallies on the death of a far-right leader”, she reacted this Wednesday morning. “No one dances on a corpse, we must stop talking nonsense,” she was also indignant, in reaction to the outraged comments of certain politicians.
