“The provocation, unfortunately, was part of the character,” more “despite the character’s past, we must recognize this clairvoyance and this commitment, the courage to have said things”, estimates Wednesday January 8 on “ici Roussillon” the RN mayor of Perpignan Louis Aliot, the day after the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen.
The founder of the National Front died on Tuesday at the age of 96. It was he who encouraged Louis Aliot to run for mayor of Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). The mayor and vice-president of the RN was on the plane returning from Mayotte alongside Marine Le Pen when he learned of the disappearance of Jean-Marie Le Pen. He’s staying “faithful to his memory”even if he was “often in battle against his useless provocations”.
According to Louis Aliot, “it’s a history book that is closing”, with the disappearance of “this generation which has experienced all the wars, from the Second World War to Indochina and Algeria, and which are part of the historical and political heritage of the end of the Third, Fourth and Fifth Republic. We can say that we have changed eras.
“It’s the last great one that is dying out and politics today no longer has the same flavor that it had before.”
Louis Aliot, the RN mayor of Perpignanon “Here Roussillon”
Louis Aliot pays tribute to “National Front and Jean-Marie Le Pen” who were for him “whistleblowers, watchmen, those who showed what was going to happen. Today, I see all these people who are drooling at the lips and yet the result of politics is theirs, it that is to say right and left for five years, which succeeded and contributed to ruining France, its economy, its rurality, its agriculture [..] Despite the character’s past, we must recognize this clairvoyance and this commitment, the courage to have said things. We didn’t want to listen to him and today, we pay the bill in cash.” believes Louis Aliot.
He greets more than anything “the commitment of the character who resigned his mandate as deputy to go fight in Algeria, but also the political ideas”. Besides that, “he made totally scandalous comments which actually harmed the fight that all the activists were leading. It’s part of the character”. But he asserts that the right of inventory, “we already did it during the lifetime of Jean-Marie Le Pen, with Marine Le Pen, the creation of the National Rally, that’s it.”
Jean-Marie Le Pen was “a man who wanted to be freeconcludes Louis Aliot, and I believe that he sometimes did not appreciate the extent to which freedom could harm the defense of the true ideas that needed to be defended. This is what I, in any case, set out to do with Marine to bring the National Front out of the caricature and to make it a government party today.”
