A former Airbus Defense & Space executive, Anouk Laborie, has just been promoted to the head of the first European competitiveness cluster in the aerospace sector. The Board of Directors of Aerospace Valley has, in fact, just appointed her general director. This 56-year-old native of Paloise succeeds Eric Giraud, who has held this position since 2021, and who joins ArianeGroup, from which he was seconded for four years. Bruno Darboux, the president of the competitiveness cluster, who warmly thanked the work accomplished by Eric Giraud, welcomed the arrival of Anouk Laborie with enthusiasm. “We are convinced that his expertise, his human qualities and his dynamism will be great assets for the division.”

A graduate of INSA in Materials Physics and Engineering Sciences, Anouk Laborie has spent her entire career in the Defense & Space division of Airbus, which she joined in 1990, then Matra Espace. In her last position, she was Executive Director of Ground Systems Engineering and Image & Navigation Solutions. She led a team of 600 employees developing digital solutions for space markets. As part of her recent missions, she has enriched her knowledge in the development of IT infrastructures and software for space imaging, telecommunications satellites and navigation systems.

For the duration of her mandate, Anouk Laborie will be 100% seconded within the division. “I am very happy to join the Aerospace Valley team and to serve a particularly dynamic and innovative ecosystem, which today faces many challenges, particularly those of digital and environmental transformations” declared Anouk Laborie when her appointment was announced. “I would like to invest in continuing the cluster’s efforts in supporting its members, in order to help them with the major transitions they face.” And there is plenty to do… Aerospace Valley today has 850 member companies, including 593 SMEs, located in and New Aquitaine. All of them work in the aeronautics, space or drone sectors, for the civilian and/or military sectors.

With 34 years spent in the space sector, Anouk Laborie has developed great technical expertise and has serious human relations skills to give more value to the collective. She also has a solid strategic vision of the company, which will be a significant asset for the management and animation of Aerospace Valley. During her career, she has been in charge of numerous projects relating to themes found in the cluster’s support missions linked to innovation, in particular emerging space technologies, eco-design or even reducing the industrial footprint.
