Dozens dead following powerful earthquake in Tibet region
At least 53 people died Tuesday morning after a powerful earthquake struck a remote region of Tibet.
Tremors were felt in neighboring Nepal and northern India.The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:05 a.m. local time and was followed by several aftershocks, CNN reports.
More than 60 other people were injured by the earthquake, while more than 1.000 houses were damaged in Tingri district, where the epicenter is located.

A total of 49 aftershocks were recorded as of midday Monday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
