Accused of the murder of Fadila Bouafia last November in Ariège, François Perez, 47, requested his release this Tuesday morning before the investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal.

The attorney general has just requested, this Tuesday, January 7, the continued detention of François Perez, this former soldier placed in pre-trial detention since last November 11, suspected of having killed his friend, Fadila Bouafia, 53, and whose the body remains unfound.
Close-cropped hair, dark complexion and clear voice, François Perez, present in the box, maintains that he has no memory of this day of Monday, November 4, on the heights of Biert, in Ariège, in the middle of the mountains. Day during which at least two witnesses describe a violent argument that day between François Perez and “Fafa”.

An audio recording dated this morning and left on a third party’s phone by Fadila reports threats suffered by this mother and grandmother who was a friend of François Perez. She allegedly criticized this ex-soldier for having “taken things” from her in his caravan.

A witness places the scene of the argument in the afternoon and not in the morning. “It does not evoke an ax but a stick held by François Perez,” says lawyer Guy Dedieu in his client’s defense. Stories and testimonies to be taken with caution due to the failing memory of some participants in the festive weekend.

Today, a brother of the accused offers him accommodation. Condition sine qua non for possible release. François Perez maintains his innocence. Confident and determined in his statements, he does not understand why the investigation by the gendarmes of the Toulouse research section was not more interested in one of his relatives, “he was selling speed to everyone and that was not dug sufficiently”, believes the accused.

Concerning François Perez, witnesses describe him as “sometimes violent”, “a two-faced person”, especially when he consumes drugs, up to eight joints a day, for 24 years. According to Me Dedieu, “we are in total collaboration and François Perez is in a process of transparency”.
Judgment rendered on January 14.
