Building on a streak of four wins in their last six games during their traditional holiday trip, the Montreal Canadiens will reunite with their fans this evening at the Bell Center for the first time since the start of the new year.
Martin St-Louis and his flock will receive a visit from the Vancouver Canucks, who will try to get back to winning ways, after losing 3-0 against the Nashville Predators in their last outing, Friday. This will be the first of a series of five road games for them which will also take them to Washington, Carolina, Toronto and Winnipeg.
CH’s recent successes have propelled the team into the “mix” that management had mentioned before the start of the season. The Habs have a record of 18-18-3 and their 39 points place them 2 points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins and the last position giving access to the playoffs in the Eastern Association.
Samuel Montembeault will be back in net for the Canadiens, after giving way to his assistant Jakub Dobeš against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
Patrik Laine and David Savard will be absent again.
For their part, the Canucks will still be without the services of Dakota Joshua (leg), Elias Pettersson (undisclosed injury) and Thatcher Demko (back), while the presence of Quinn Hughes (undisclosed injury) participates in the meeting. Kevin Lankinen should be in net for the visitors.
