The owner of two category 1 dogs is accused of not having controlled his animals, which then attacked cats in a neighborhood of Bondoufle, thus killing the felines. Complaints have been filed.
Three families from Bondoufle, in Essonne, recently lost their cats, who died in similar circumstances. All accuse a man, owner of two attack dogs suspected of having killed the felines.
“I was at home, the cat was outside. I was on the phone with my cousin and shortly after I heard the cat howling,” Mélissa, whose cat died in December, told BFMTV. “I realized it wasn’t catfighting cries, I felt it was more than that.”
When she goes out to pick up her cat Hera, Mélissa comes across a man accompanied by two staff breed dogs, category 1 so-called attack dogs. The body of her cat lies next to them. “He was already dead, all curled up.”
“He threw my cat’s body, and the GPS further away,” she assures.

The man was also seen on video surveillance images in May 2024, provided by another resident of Bondoufle. As he enters the yard with his two dogs, without a leash, the canines violently attack the resident’s cat.
While the man tries to contain his animals by the collar, one of them escapes before running and attacking the cat again. BFMTV tried to contact the owner in front of his home to give his version of the facts, but he refused to respond.
The matter is taken very seriously by the municipality, which is following the investigation closely. “We are in a new area of Bondoufle, a new district where there are schools, media library, and a lot of parks,” underlines Ricardo Leite-Lopes, deputy mayor.
“There is no zero risk, for the moment it is cats, and even they are an integral part of the family, but it can also happen to a child so we are very concerned,” explains he.
The owners of the cats filed a complaint, and an investigation was opened by the gendarmerie services. It should be completed by the end of January.
