After the cold, the few snowfalls and the ice, it’s time for milder temperatures. A mild spell is expected in mainland on Sunday, with the thermometer showing up to 10°C warmer than the day before in almost the entire northern half of the country.

Sunday morning, the minimum temperature is expected in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, at the foot of famous Alpine ski resorts, where the thermometer should show 6°C according to Météo France forecasts. Like this Saturday, it is in the south-west of France and more precisely in that it should be the hottest, with 15°C expected from the morning. In the capital, it should be around 11°C, ten degrees warmer than 24 hours earlier.

In the afternoon, temperatures will remain mild and well above seasonal norms across the country. Only Bourg-Saint-Maurice will see its thermometer not exceed the 10°C mark.

On the other hand, the weather will be rainy across the entire northern half of the country in the morning. “From the to the Ardennes to Lorraine towards the Channel coasts, the rains are sustained in a windy atmosphere,” analyzes La Chaîne Météo. “From New Aquitaine and the Pyrenees to the Center-East, it is dry, but cloudy weather which accompanies you under fairly strong winds at 70 km/h in gusts,” continues the expert site.

In the afternoon, the rains should concentrate on the northwestern quarter of the country. On the other hand, the sky will be quite clear over the southern half, despite a few clouds on the Côte d’Azur and Corsica. In the evening, the wind could also blow very strongly in Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes, where gusts of up to 100 km/h could be recorded.

Météo France placed 30 departments on orange alert this Saturday due to “a winter episode requiring special attention” which is due to begin Saturday evening. Initially this Saturday morning, 16 departments were affected. This alert comes as the weekend will be marked on the roads by people returning from vacation.

The departments concerned are , Pas-de-, , Seine-Maritime, Oise, Aisne, Ardennes, , Meuse, Haute-Marne, , Meurthe- et-Moselle, Vosges, Haut-Rhin, Bas-Rhin, Territoire de , Eure, Orne, Eure-et-Loir, Oise, Val-d’Oise, , , Essonne, Seine-et-Marne, Aube, Côte-d’Or, Haute-Saône, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de- Seine.
