At the start of the week, the weather report announces stable weather, with mild forecasts in perspective. This Sunday, January 5, the northern regions of the country will benefit from clear to partly cloudy skies. However, a change is expected early in the afternoon, with cloud cover expected to gradually thicken over western regions.
The morning, on the other hand, will be accompanied by a marked coolness. The formation of morning frost is expected in inland regions, the high plateaus and in the Aurès region. These conditions are reminiscent of winter which continues to slowly set in in Algeria. In terms of temperatures, the maximums announced by Weather Algeria oscillate between 18 and 21°C in coastal regions, while they vary between 9 and 19°C in inland regions.
In the South, calm also prevails, with clear to partly cloudy weather depending on the National Meteorological Office (ONM). A few clouds could appear in the Oasis region during the morning. Temperatures in the Saharan regions will show maximum values between 12 and 26°C, providing a marked contrast between the north and south of the country.
Snow, rain, cold snap…: bad weather returns on Monday!
Although the day promises relatively mild weather, weather forecast anticipate a new winter phase marked by the return of rains from this Sunday evening.
The majority of wilayas in the north of the country could be affected by this change, with significant rainfall expected in the western, central and eastern regions. Digital models also predict snowfall on the interior heights, particularly in the Aurès, where temperatures will begin to drop considerably.
This change comes following an atmospheric depression from Western Europe, which will begin to influence the weather conditions in our country from this evening, bringing the first showers to the western regions.

An exceptional celestial meeting, the Moon and Saturn meet!
This Saturday, January 4, a rare event lit up the Algerian sky. At 6:30 p.m. local time, the crescent moon passed in front the planet Saturnoffering a fascinating astronomical spectacle. This phenomenon, known as occultation, occurs because of Saturn’s position in the zodiac.
The lunar crescent and Saturn were visible about 30 degrees above the horizon, looking southwest. For 48 minutes, this celestial ballet plunged astronomy enthusiasts into the immersion and emergence of the planet and its rings.
This meeting between the Moon and Saturn is all the more valuable because it is the last occultation of Saturn by the Moon for several years. Indeed, the observation of an event of this type will only occur in 2036 and 2037.
