Atlético Madrid assistant coach Nelson Vivas spoke to the press to discuss the 1-0 victory over Marbella in the Copa del Rey, replacing Diego Simeone.
“The truth is that it usually happens that we get to the end in this way when the result does not open quickly or the match is not over,” assessed Vivas, speaking of the nervous ending of the match.
“We could have been more convincing,” he continued. “We could, the match in general was controlled with a very small margin on goal difference. Until the end, there was a chance it could end differently.
Cheers to the game
“Playing on natural grass helped and we felt the match was comfortable from a playing point of view, not from a result point of view, because it was very short. We had opportunities, also in the first half, to attack the opponent’s high line. We are satisfied and happy not only with the series of victories, but also with the overtaking and remaining in the competition. There are lower category teams who have eliminated higher category teams.
Vivas sur Robin Le Normand
“He was fine, fortunately he did well, he suffered a blow from an opponent, but fortunately he didn’t have anything. Happy because his injury is overcome. We are also happy to have most of the team members available.

Vivas on the continuation after 13 consecutive victories
“With calmness, with humility, focusing at this moment more on the things that we can do better in each of the matches. This is how we approach the first day of the week before the next game.

“We saw a solid team, with good game intentions…. In the last few matches, they have improved. Even when playing against inferior teams, there is always a mindset that improves abilities. It’s not easy sometimes. He was a nice rival, with a result so fair that it could have been otherwise.”
