(Quebec) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the death of a baby in Saint-Gilles, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Emergency services were called to a residence around 4:30 a.m. Saturday where the baby was found unresponsive.
The child was in critical condition when transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No other details were immediately released by the SQ. In particular, it is not known whether the baby’s body showed signs of violence.
-“Investigators from the major crimes investigation division as well as forensic identification technicians from the Sûreté du Québec will go to the site to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding this death,” indicated Sergeant Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.
“An autopsy should be carried out to find out the exact cause of death and the investigation is continuing in collaboration with the coroner,” she said.
A security perimeter was erected on site to protect certain investigative elements.
