Asked for the registrations of Dani Olmo and Victor, La Liga and the Spanish Federation (RFEF) did not respond favorably to FC Barcelona’s request. The Catalan club still cannot use its two players for the second part of the season.

The bad news is confirmed for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. This Saturday, La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) published a joint press release to respond to FC Barcelona. The two authorities officially refuse the registrations of the two Blaugrana. A real disaster for the Catalan club which will not be able to use the attacking midfielder or the versatile attacker for the second part of the season. In question, its economic situation and the non-respect of financial fair play of La Liga.

Remember that Dani Olmo and Pau Victor were already in the same situation last summer. But thanks to a point in the regulations, the long absence due to injury of Andreas Christensen had allowed Barça to use a salary margin to register the two players until January. The Spanish vice-champion then had several months to find a solution, without success. The club led by Joan Laporta has nevertheless negotiated a historic contract with its equipment supplier Nike. And very recently, Barça has just sold the operation of VIP boxes at the future Camp Nou for a value of 100 million euros.

A last resort for Barça

These operations were enough to relieve finances and allow FC Barcelona to recruit without the restrictions known in recent years, but not to register Dani Olmo nor Pau Victor. Note that Barça, forced to pay the salaries of the two players, risk seeing the Spanish international leave free due to a clause in his contract. This is not yet its intention and the club now intends to take the matter to court.
