FC Barcelona faces another setback in its quest to register Dani Olmo and Víctor for the second half of the season. The refusal of LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) has pushed the Blaugrana club to consider more drastic measures, including appealing to the government to resolve the situation. The main reason behind this refusal lies in the salary cap which the institution is struggling to get rid of, a problem which has affected the club in recent years.

Dani Olmo, one of the most notable summer signings, was temporarily registered following the injury to Andreas Christensen. However, his registration expired on December 31, and lack of space in the salary cap prevents Barcelona from re-registering him. Meanwhile, Pau Víctor, a young talent from the B team, was hoping to make the jump to the first team, but the current decision blocks his chances of participating in official competitions with the senior team.

Faced with the lack of solutions from the football authorities, Barcelona chose to escalate the problem with the Spanish government, seeking assistance to unblock the situation. The management hopes that the support of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) could provide alternatives to meet the demands of LaLiga and guarantee the availability of the two players. However, this is dependent on receiving an official refusal from the Federation and LaLiga.

From then on, Barcelona will appeal to the CSD, which could intervene against the refusal of a new license. This is because the issuance of licenses is considered a public function, allowing the Council to assess whether the Federation should process the registration and issue the corresponding license for players. This step could mark a turning point in the process, although the outcome remains uncertain.

If the CSD also provides a negative response, Joan Laporta could have the possibility of returning to the ordinary court. However, on previous occasions the court has already rejected the precautionary measures requested for the registration of the two players. All indications suggest that the next decisions will be made between Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. In the meantime, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor will not be able to participate in the Copa del Rey and it is very likely that they will also miss the Spanish Super Cup, at least for the semi-final against Athletic Club.
