Residents of Morbihan will they have their feet in the water on Sunday January 5, 2025 ? THE torrential rain expected throughout the weekend of January 4 and 5, 2025 could lead to floodsin Brittany.

“The lull will have been short-lived,” warns Steven Tual, meteorologist. “A lasting rainy deterioration is approaching Brittany”, informs the founder of Temps Breton on Friday January 3, 2025 .

This deterioration is accompanied in particular by a risk of freezing rainstarting Saturday, January 4 from noon. Morbihan should, however, be spared.

Significant accumulations of rain

Over the next few hours, the region will be affected by heavy rainfall. “The disturbance which crosses Brittany at the end of the day on Saturday is active. It quickly displaces the cold air and is accompanied by strong winds with peaks of 90 km/h on the coast and in the interior of Lower Brittany,” indicates Steven Tual.

The rains do not stop on Sunday. They last in particular in Finistère, Morbihan and the north of Loire-Atlantique with accumulations greater than 50 mm.

Locally, “we could approach 80 mm at the foot of the Montagnes Noires and in the Landes de Lanvaux,” says the meteorologist.

Morbihan: watch out for flooding

A risk of flooding cannot be ruled out. “The rivers should sometimes react significantly to this rainy sequence. The risk of flooding is high in major river beds,” announces the meteorologist.

The rain is expected to decrease in intensity on the evening of Sunday 5 before resuming throughout the night from Sunday to Monday.
