It was a surge of three unanswered goals in the first 10 minutes of play in the second period that made the difference, despite a big goal from Emmanuel Vermette before the end of the second period.
Justin Carbonneau instead dealt a hard blow to the locals in the fourth minute of play in the third period, during a power play. The talented striker accepted Vincent Desjardins’ crossfield pass to make the score 4-2.
Samuel Kupec completed in an empty net, while the Sags tried to reduce the gap to six against four.
The Saguenéens now benefit from a few days off, after having gone through a sequence of five games in seven days. They host the Quebec Remparts next Wednesday evening.
