In the absence of the Cyclo Cross cannibal, Mathieu Van der Poel, but also of Thibau Nys and Michael Vanthourenhout, the games were more open in Koksijde for this round of the X2O Trophy. One of the two favorites of the day, Laurens Sweeck did not miss his chance and established himself as boss, while the other headliner, Eli Iserbyt had to be content with 6th place. The surprise of the day is the young Tibor del Grosso, winner of several rounds of the U23 World Cup this winter, he climbs directly onto the podium for his 3rd race with the Elites.

We didn’t expect him so high, so quickly, yet he almost achieved the feat this Friday, Tibor Del Grosso (Alpecin Deceuninck Development Team), 21, held off Laurens Sweeck for a good part of the Cyclo Cross from Koksijde, probably dreaming of imitating his teammate and role model, Mathieu Van Der Poel. The young Dutchman finally had to give in and the Belgian won, but the promises are real for the future. Behind the two men, Toon Aerts, who has been in good shape for several weeks, took a very good 3rd place, while the leader of the X2O Trophy, Eli Iserbyt, only finished 6th.
