Sarah Ferguson: who is Jane Andrews, her former assistant convicted of murder?

Born in 1967 in Cleethorpes, north Lincolnshire, into a working-class family, Jane Andrews was the youngest of three children. His father David was a carpenter and his mother June was a social worker, but they struggled financially and eventually moved to a townhouse with an outhouse in Grimsby. From a young age, she suffered from depression, attempting suicide at age 15, before being diagnosed with a personality disorder and becoming addicted to intimate relationships. It was at the age of 21 that she experienced a turning point in her life when she was hired as Sarah Ferguson's personal assistant after seeing an anonymous ad in the magazine The Lady while working as a saleswoman at Marks & Spencer. A new life for the young woman who allowed her to leave her past behind her. For almost ten years, she lived a fairy tale within Buckingham Palace. Over the years, she had even formed a certain friendship with the ex-wife of Prince Andrews who called her “Lady Jane”.

The two women had become closer because of their respective marital problems. She thus became one of Fergie's great confidants. But, in 1998, Jane Andrews began dating Thomas Cressman, a former stockbroker. If their relationship had started well, a violent argument turned everything upside down. During a vacation on the French Riviera, her boyfriend rejected the idea of marrying her. A revelation that devastated her. Back in London, an argument escalated between them to the point where Thomas felt compelled to contact the police fearing for their safety. Although tensions appeared to have eased and Cressman had fallen asleep, Jane Andrews took the opportunity to attack him with a cricket bat and then fatally stabbed him in the chest. She was later sentenced to life imprisonment.
