The mayor (DVD) and president of the agglomeration of Sables-d'Olonne, in Vendée, Yannick Moreau, is hanging up on the eve of his 50th birthday. He announced Thursday January 2 in his wishes that he will end his political mandates next September, France Bleu Loire Océan has learned.
He will therefore have attended his last departure from the Vendée Globe in 2024 as mayor. At 49, Yannick Moreau explains in a video published on social networks that he will leave his position at the start of the next school year. “This is the last time that I present my best wishes to you as mayor of Sables-d’Olonne and president of its agglomeration”said Yannick Moreau soberly in his speech.
Elected mayor of Olonne-sur-Mer in 2008 then mayor of the new commune of Sables-d'Olonne in 2019, the councilor believes he has “a lot given” et “much received” during these 17 years of local mandate. “I feel like I did my part. I did my job. But I always thought that cemeteries were full of irreplaceable people and I always swore to myself not to become an old elected official clinging in his chair”adds Yannick Moreau who is delighted to have “Woke the Sleeping Beauty” while confessing “made some mistakes”.
“I always dreamed of having a private life one day, after my public life. Well, here we are.”
