While some Syrians believe that Ahmad al-Chareh is seeking to reassure the United States and the international community, others see this approach as a message of unity.

Since his arrival at the People's Palace, located at the top of Mount Qassioun west of Damascus, the president of the new Syrian administration, Ahmad al-Chareh, has continued to receive official and unofficial delegations from the inside and outside the country. He strives to send reassuring messages to Syrians, affirming that the era of repression of freedoms is over with the departure of Bashar al-Assad.
These messages seem to have reached many Syrians, as evidenced by a group met in the Mezzeh district. They particularly appreciated that Ahmad al-Chareh, despite his conservative Islamic origins, received a delegation representing the Christian communities of Syria, in the middle of the Christmas and New Year celebrations. “We Syrians are united and our faiths are one, said one of the group members. No matter how diverse our faiths may be, we will remain one people.”
-“Under the leadership of Leader Ahmad al-Shareh and the ruling council, we hope to strengthen our cooperation to rebuild Syria together.”
“I have the feeling that the country is heading towards a phase of reconstruction, although it will take time, adds another Syrian woman. These meetings prove that our nation will be free from all discrimination.”
In terms of international relations, the United States, which once demanded the head of Ahmad al-Chareh, is now seeking to court and meet with him. This reflects, according to Syrians like young Obeid, its ability to build good relations with other countries: “This is the climate that the United States and the West want. The image that Ahmad al-Chareh presents is satisfactory for the West, unlike the old regime. Al-Chareh is perfectly aware of his objectives in these steps, aimed at reconciling Syria with the different nations of the world.”
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Ahmad al-Chareh has welcomed dozens of delegations from most Arab countries, the European Union and Syria's neighbors. All of them have expressed their desire to economically support the country after these meetings.
