-It was in the middle of the night, at 1:50 a.m., that firefighters intervened in the Valdegour district, in Nîmes (Gard), this Friday, January 3. Heavy smoke then emerged from the basement of a building on Winston Drive and spread upstairs, through the stairwell.
The firefighters, who came from the Nîmes and Nîmes-Saint-Césaire emergency centers, first focused on limiting the spread of the fire to a single vehicle. Secondly, they confine the residents to their apartment in order to keep them safe. The ten-story building is particularly crowded and firefighters fear the smoke will spread.
Ventilation of the premises is carried out as well as various checks on the floors to avoid any risk of poisoning. After two hours of intervention, firefighters reported no casualties.
