Atalanta Bergamo faced Inter Milan this evening, in Saudi Arabia, as part of the Italian Super Cup. But Charles De Ketelaere and his teammates will already return home.
Charles De Ketelaere was on the bench this Thursday for the semi-final of the Italian Super Cup between Inter Milan and Atalanta Bergamo. A match which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and for which Gasperini had largely rotated, unlike Simone Inzaghi.
Result: Inter Milan won via a double from Denzel Dumfries. After the Dutchman’s first goal, De Ketelaere, among others, came into the game and Atalanta regained momentum, but without managing to equalize.
De Ketelaere will even be unhappy, thinking he contributed to the equalizer by failing against the goalkeeper but allowing Ederson to put the second ball in. But the Brazilian was flagged offside, and Inter would then quickly make the break.
Inter Milan will now face the winner of the second semi-final, between Juventus and AC Milan, which will be held this Friday. For Charles De Ketelaere, it’s a missed opportunity to start the year with a trophy… but few people are passionate about this trophy being held on such an improbable date in the middle of the winter break, in Saudi Arabia.
