A fire broke out in the old barn of the Koné cafeteria, around 4 a.m., this Friday, January 3. The building, which houses the SIC offices, a second-hand bookstore and a psychology office, was still on fire at 7:30 a.m.
Since 4 a.m., this Friday, January 3, firefighters have been battling a violent fire in the former barn of the Koné cafeteria, which houses the offices of the SIC. The Bouquinerie du Nord, opened in 2018, and the psychology office are the two spaces most affected. More than 9,000 books went up in smoke.
Firefighters from the Koné and Pouembo fire and rescue centers and Civil Security were still battling the fire at 7:30 a.m. Outbreaks are still active. It is now impossible to enter the building. The floor between the two floors is in danger of collapsing.
On site, three fire trucks, two from Civil Security and one from the CSPK, an ambulance and the gendarmerie are on site.
