EUROLIGUE 2024/25 – ASVEL begins the year 2025 with a defeat on the European scene, at home against another team from the second half of the ranking, Olimpia Milan (final score 66-75). Second setback in a row for the Villeurbannais, who have lost their momentum of recent weeks.
It is always difficult to follow up after exploits. After his impressive victories against Real Madrid, Paris or Zalgiris, ASVEL is back in the trough of the wave. Their 14-point defeat against Virtus Bologna just after Christmas is now followed by another disappointing setback, at home against Milan (66-75). Not helped by the numerous absences, the men of Pierre Puppet were only a shadow of what they had shown in December. If the defensive intensity could have been better, they were above all very messy in attack, with 21 lost balls for only 10 assists. The team’s two main ball carriers and top scorers Nando de Colo (23 points) and the reigning MVP of the month Theo Maledon (18 points) accumulated 6 and 7 turnovers respectively. They were very hampered by the glue pots of the Italian external defense.
