On the evening of Christmas Eve, a resident of Calmont lost his life on the sidelines of a altercation with neighbors whom he had just accused of making too much noise. The day after the events, his wife did not hesitate to denounce on social networks the “assassination” of her husbandevoking several blows received by the latter that evening. Investigations were launched by the gendarmerie to find out the causes of the death of this forty-year-old. Contacted by Voice of Midi Lauragais this Thursday, January 2, 2025, the Toulouse parquet takes stock of the investigation.

The blows would not have caused death

In the testimony she gave the day after her husband's death, Nadia explained that her husband had gone out in his pajamas shortly after midnight to stop the firecracker noises in the neighborhood, with the support of several of his children. The tone then rose with a group of people who were near their home. The mother specified that a fight then broke out with exchanges of blows. Her husband then collapsed, without ever getting up, despite attempts at resuscitation and the intervention of emergency services.

Dispatched to the site, the gendarmes quickly carried out investigations to trace the course of events. A investigation was opened to investigate the causes of the death of this 47-year-old man. Several hearings took place and a autopsy of the body was scheduled for Monday December 30. The results of this are now known and seem to support a first avenue. “The blows would not be the cause of this man’s death”informs the Toulouse public prosecutor's office.

The forty-year-old “had major heart problems”

The judicial body emphasizes, however, that the investigation is still ongoing and that « analyses anatomopathologiques » were requested. This examination, which consists of studying tissues or cells taken from the deceased, aims to identify and analyze possible anomalies linked to an illness.

A second investigation is opened

The investigations, entrusted to the gendarmes of the Villefranche-de-Lauragais research brigadeare therefore continuing to confirm this hypothesis, which is favored at present.

The prosecution also specifies that a “second investigation relating to the violence committed that evening” is also underway following this neighborhood quarrel with a tragic outcome, the exact circumstances of which still remain unclear a week after the events.
