While the future of the Girondins de Bordeaux is still very unclear, Sud Ouest announces that a rather unlikely duo, composed of Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Oliver Kahn, would have come into contact with Gérard Lopez, current owner of the club. Currently in National 2, the Girondins are still in receivership.
Will Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Oliver Kahn take over from Gérard Lopez at the Girondins de Bordeaux? Although it is still much too early to say, the former president of Marseille and the former legend of Bayern Munich have reportedly taken steps in this direction.
The Eyraud-Kahn tandem to replace Gérard Lopez?
Indeed, according to information from Sud Ouest this Thursday evening, Jacques-Henri Eyraud would have approached Gérard Lopez, owner of the Bordeaux club, last December, for the first information. The study of the file would then have continued by contacting the Bordeaux town hall. The former Marseille president is said to have acted on behalf of former Bayern Munich president Oliver Kahn. Since his departure from the upper echelons of the Bavarian club in May 2023, the former German football legend has reportedly traveled to learn about different clubs in many countries.
Currently in receivership, Bordeaux will have a hearing on January 21 before the Commercial Court, an important deadline for the future of the club. Indeed, still according to Sud Ouest, the Girondins are preparing to request the renewal of the current observation period (which ends on January 31), for an additional six months.
In National 2, the Girondins are in 4th place in group B, 11 points behind the leader, Saint-Malo, but with two games behind, while only first place offers a rise in National.
