The first part of the season is now over, let’s look at the fight for the big crystal globe. The density is exceptional among the ladies and Marco Odermatt already clearly dominates the general men’s ranking.
The transition to the new year marks the start of the second part of winter for the Alpine Ski World Cup. After Sölden, the American and Italian tours, it is time to take stock. The overall race is tough for the women while Marco Odermatt already seems in very good shape.
Marco Odermatt takes off
The questions were already present even before the start of winter, who would simply tickle Marco Odermatt in the race for the general classification? Aleksander Aamodt Kilde absent, the Norwegians are still well placed. Henrik Kristoffersen is currently 2nd in the standings behind an untouchable Marco Odermatt. The Swiss has 630 points, including 161 ahead of his main competitor. Atle Lie McGrath completes the podium for the moment with 382 points.
The two Norwegians only participate in two disciplines and the difference is made here since the winner of the last three big globes is exceptionally consistent on all the giants, downhills and super-G. Thanks to his victories in Levi and Gurgl, Clément Noël is in 8th place with 240 points. Nils Allègre is the 2nd Frenchman with a provisional 15th place and 176 points on the clock.
Camille Rast followed by a field of champions
A statistic shows the tightening of the women’s general ranking. Between Camille Rast, in the lead, and Katharina Liensberger, 10th, there are only 114 points. Or less than between Odermatt and Kristoffersen. With the prolonged absence of Mikaela Shiffrin, the race for the big globe is thrilling and unprecedented. Camille Rast is therefore first with 351 points ahead of Zrinka Ljutic (334) and Federica Brignone (319). 35 points separate the top three.
But the ladies of speed have not yet fully entered their season. Two races in Beaver Creek, another in St. Moritz, they have not yet had time to increase their numbers. Cornelia Hütter is the one who is doing the best. Two victories and a 4th place in three races contested, which earned him 250 points, or 101 behind Rast. The month of January can be to its advantage if it maintains this regularity.
On the French side, the first to appear in the ranking is none other than Clarisse Brèche, 39th with 58 points. Marie Lamure is 45th, Romane Miradoli 48th.
