In a context of conflict in the Middle East, Kop Parisii, a group of Paris Basketball supporters, announces its intention to mark the occasion when it hosts Maccabi Tel-Aviv on January 16 in the Euroleague.
The Adidas Arena will be less noisy than usual. As announced in a press release published this Thursday, January 2, the Kop Parisii, a group of Paris Basketball supporters, will hold a strike of the entertainment in the stands on the occasion of the reception of Maccabi Tel Aviv, on January 16 for the 22nd day of Euroleague. A decision which takes place in the context of conflict in the Middle East involving Israel.
“In the context that everyone knows, we decided with the office not to make this match a usual match and above all not to act as if nothing had happened,” explains Kop Parisii. “This is why, and exceptionally, we will not host the KOP stand for this match. There will be no drums, no singing, no tarpaulins. By decision of the office, the association will not be officially there represented.”
“Things that go further than a simple basketball match”
“We do not wish to politicize the KOP or create divisions in our ranks. But there are things that go further than a simple basketball match… Our values and the values of humanism in general,” concludes the group of supporters, which has around 200 members.
The number of Israeli supporters present for the match against Paris Basketball is not yet known, as is the security system that will be put in place by the authorities.
On December 18, the Champions League basketball match between Nanterre and Hapoel Holon, another Israeli team, was interrupted for several minutes by the arrival of several pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
