A man was found dead on the night of Monday December 30 to Tuesday December 31, at the foot of Saint-Étienne Cathedral, in Toulouse. Passersby alerted emergency services around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. But the intervention of firefighters and a team from Smur 31 did not save this 57-year-old man. His death was noted by the Samu 31 doctor.
The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to determine the causes of death. No traces of assault were identified on the victim's body.
Forensic examination planned
This man, whom residents of the neighborhood had been accustomed to meeting around Saint-Étienne Cathedral for several years, had been hospitalized at Christmas time to treat various pathologies. These illnesses, in particular a serious problem with diabetes, could explain the death.
The prosecution ordered an examination of the body and analyzes to confirm this hypothesis.
