In football, there is “El Clasico”, a match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. In France, there is the Classique, between Olympique de Marseille and Paris-Saint-Germain.
Now, for 2025, get ready for the andouille match! Between the leisure handball team of Jargeau and that of Vire (Calvados).
Not easy to set up
“We had the idea one evening of playing a match at the national level. And we said why not go with the theme of andouille, since Jargeau is known for that. We looked. First we contacted Guémené, but it was only possible in 2026. And on the Vire side, it could be done in 2025”, explains Yoann Cousquer, recreational player at Jargeau Sport Handball.
It was not easy to set up this andouille match, which will finally take place in Calvados on Saturday June 14, 2025: “I contacted them in September and I got a positive response in November. J I fought.”
The Gergolians will leave with 21 players (and players since the team is mixed), they are aged from 18 to 55 years old. The format of the match would be 4 x 20 minutes, “so everyone can play”.
A cost of around 4,500 euros
This trip will be able to answer a crucial question: which is better andouille, Jargeau or Vire? “We will meet around a table after the match for tastings of andouille de Vire and Jargeau. I will only be able to tell you afterward!”, says Yoann.
If the whole operation costs around 4,500 euros, the Brotherhood of Knights of Goûte-Andouille de Jargeau offers players andouilles so as not to leave for Normandy empty-handed.
