Barthélémy Dias refuses to comply with recent decisions which removed him from office. According to Me Amadou Sall, member of the pool of lawyers representing the former mayor of Dakar, two appeals will be filed with the Supreme Court.

The first aims to challenge the decision of the prefect considering him to have resigned from his post as mayor of the Senegalese capital. The second appeal will seek to obtain the annulment of his removal from the National Assembly. In this Thursday’s edition, The Echoes reports the statements of Me Amadou Sall, former Minister of Justice, who spoke on the rejection, by the Court of Appeal, of Barthélémy Dias’ request denouncing the prefectural act ending his mandate as councilor.

“The first request is ready and signed,” revealed the lawyer, specifying that it would be filed between December 31 and this Thursday, January 2. Concerning the removal of Barthélémy Dias from the list of deputies, Me Sall assures that a similar procedure will be initiated. It should be noted that before bringing his case before the Court of Appeal, Barthélémy Dias had referred the matter to the Constitutional Council, which declared itself incompetent to deal with his removal from the National Assembly.
