Season 2 of Squid Game was released just in time for the end of the year, but the party is over and we now have to wait to see season 3. Fortunately, Netflix offers another perfect series to pass the time.
Season 2 of Squid Game was expected at the turn and did not disappoint, achieving a success as resounding as that of the first chapter, if not more by exploding the counters in its first week. The K-drama has indeed secured its place among the best series on Netflix as the new episodes reached the top 1 of many countries in record time, despite criticism of the brevity of this season 2 and the cliffhanger of the final.
Because Gi-hun's story is not yet finished, and we will have to wait before discovering the conclusion to his painful adventures within the Games: season 3 will return in 2025, but does not yet have a release date precise. But fans of enigmatic ordeals and societal critiques can rest assured: Netflix is offering another Korean series in the same vein as Squid Gameand which is well worth the detour.
The 8 Show is much darker than Squid Game
The 8 Show looks like Squid Game on many points, also immersing candidates in a sort of mediated social experience reserved for an invisible audience.
As with Squid Gamethe participants find themselves in a closed and mysterious environment, and must deal with several seemingly simple rules: each of the eight participants resides in a room on a specific floor of the building, and is paid a specific amount every minute, for no reason related.
If the goal is not to kill each other so that only one escapes, the tests to come are no less cruel, starting with the first twist concerning certain choices of the candidates and the perverse hierarchy which 'will get out of it. Violence and humiliation will then sweep away good feelings, the tension gradually rising until it reaches peaks of brutality – between some strangely poetic or touching sequences.
