This Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in the morninga fire broke out on rue Bazille Balard, in a three-story residence, located in Montpellier. The fire started on the top level of the building before piercing the roof. Its scale required the deployment of around thirty firefighters on site.
Faced with the emergency, firefighters used an automatic swing ladder (EPS) to rescue a resident trapped by the flames. He suffered burns to his hands and inhaled fumes.
Two injured and four evacuees brought to safety
A second person was also treated by the teams present on the scene. Although this victim's condition remains under evaluation, she is also believed to have inhaled toxic fumes. In addition, four other residents of the building were sheltered. Firefighters described the fire as “developing favorably”, meaning that their action succeeded in containing the progression of the flames. The origins of this fire have not yet been determined.
