A model was found dead Friday after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a residence in Solebury, Pennsylvania.
A 911 call was first made around 6:30 a.m. about a man who was semi-conscious on the first floor of a cottage, according to ABC News reports.
Once on scene, firefighters removed the man from the building and rushed him to hospital.
Emergency responders then learned that a 76-year-old woman was also in the house. They found her unconscious in a second-floor bedroom and attempted to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters on scene detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property. According to police, fumes from a boiler could be the cause.
The circumstances of this incident remain under investigation.
Internationally renowned
The body found was that of Dayle Haddon, a model and actress who gained international fame in the 1970s by appearing on the covers of several fashion magazines.
Last August, the woman was the subject of an article in Vogue.
Ms. Haddon was also a spokesperson for L’Oréal for more than 15 years, a UNICEF ambassador and founder of WomenOne, a charity that focuses on the education of girls and women, according to its website.
Born in Montreal in 1948, Ms. Haddon also visited the cinema where she played in Disney’s “The World’s Greatest Athlete” and “North Dallas Forty”.
She is the only model to have signed with four major cosmetics companies: Revlon, Max Factor, Estée Lauder and L’Oréal.
A “source of inspiration”
Her daughter, Ryan Haddon, remembers her mother as an “inspiration” and someone who “supported a lot of people.”
“Dayle’s bright light has faded,” she wrote in a post on the social network Instagram. “She was a woman with power, but gentle and attentive to everyone. Deeply creative and curious, blessed with inner and outer beauty. Always kind and caring.”
“She was chic, elegant. She always remembered you,” said Sandy Linter, makeup artist and longtime friend of Haddon, in an exclusive interview with Action News. “It was a tragic accident. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for his family.”
