Cross-country skiing: Lucas Chanavat continues in the top 3
Just a few minutes after the boss size victory for Jessie Diggins ahead of Jasmi Joensuuthe men’s cross-country skiers entered the track to compete for victory on the sprint skate the Toblach (Italy), opening event of the Ski Tour 2024/2025.
Two weeks ago, Lucas Chanavat had found his way back to the podium on the occasion of this same competition contested on Swiss soil, Davos. This Saturday, late in the afternoon, the Frenchman did it again by competing throughout the day with the ogre Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo.
Only beaten by the latter during the last lap of the day, the Bornandin once again mastered his subject throughout the tournament to secure second place. All powerful and tactically clever, the French skier resisted the return of solid Janik Riebli to climb on his twenty-third career podium. Now he is at three small units of Vincent Vittoz’s totalsecond Blue in number of top 3 behind Maurice Manifest.
Richard Jouve jostled at the start of the course
In search of his best sensations since the start of winter, Richard Jouve seems to have found color again during the holidays. Sneaking little by little towards the final, and notably in the semi-finals throw your foot in front of Federico Pellegrinothe Haut-Alpin was however unable to play his card for the podium until the end.
Hooked by Valerio Groundwho had dropped a few tenths second earlier, the Frenchman then saw the lead car fly away without being able to hang on and defend their chances until the end. A overall performance still reassuring for the one who therefore beat the Swiss as well as the American Ben Ogden, victim of a broken rod in the first turns of the route.
In contact with Lucas Chanavat et Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo during his quarter-final, Rémi Bourdin was not selected in lucky looser to advance to the next round.
